Baseball Flag

What are some outdoor games that older kids can play?

I work with 10 and 11 year old kids and they’re getting tired of the same old games. We play kickball tennis baseball capture the flag stuff like that. What are some other games you know of that they might enjoy. Its a camp type situation and I need some ideas!

you’ve got the classics – dodge ball, water ballon war, potato sack races, tug-o-war, Then I was reading about some really creative games such as:

Blind walk – set up an obstacle course, have kids look at it… then blind fold them and have them attempt to walk through it… fastest one through, knocking over least obstacles, wins… each knocked over obstacle should have a time penalty on it.

Drag the body – split kids into teams… give them a tarp or blanket, have kids drag each other on tarp racing to finish line.

Pick Pocket Tag – Put a strip of cloth in each player’s back pocket. Have the players try to grab each other’s strips without having their own strip taken. The player with the most cloth strips wins the game.

Big Foot Relay – Have the children bring two shoeboxes with them. Tape the lids onto the boxes, then cut a one-inch-wide and four-inch long slit in each top. Have the contestants slip their feet into the slits in the boxes and race.

Apple On A Rope – Only two players on a team – one to hold the apple and the other to eat the apple. Set up the apples on ropes. You do this by poking a hole through the apple, stringing a piece of thin rope about 3′ in length through the apple and knot it several times at the end to prevent the apple from falling off. The apple holder will hold the one end of the rope in the air while the apple dangles and the apple eater will eat the apple while their hands are behind their back. The first team done eating the apple down to the core is the winner.

Fitness Mania – Dividing into two teams. Each team will line up single file on opposite side of the card and activity slip piles. The first person on each team will run towards the middle and pick up a card and an activity slip. Each card represents a number. Jack = 11, etc… Ace = 14 Note: If a player picks up an activity that their team has already done, then they must pick another activity slip. Players will run back towards their group then read and perform the activity as a group.(ex: Do ____ curl-ups). The next person in line then goes and the game continues until all of the cards or activity slips are gone. The team that finishes first wins..

Amoeba Race – Set up obstacle course…divide kids into two groups with atleast 3 players per team, the more the better. Tie a string around each players waist… so they are linked together with fellow team mates… have them work as a group to get through the obstacle course… first team through is the winner.
