I worked alongside Greg Shriver for more than 10 years in the newspaper business and I would highly recommend him for virtually any position.

I have worked with hundreds of talented, award-winning journalists in my 20 years in the business, people who have gone on to write books and work at some of the largest newspapers and magazines in the country. And I can say with certainty that if I were starting my own business —- whether it be a newspaper, magazine or PR firm, regardless of the subject nature —  Greg Shriver would be one of the first five people I’d call when assembling a staff.

While Greg has spent many recent years as a sports journalist, that label absolutely does not define or limit him. His knowledge extends far beyond the confines of any sports department. I don’t know anybody else who knows more things about more things than Greg Shriver. From news to sports to politics to entertainment to, certainly, travel, Greg knows it all, and knows it well.

Because of this, Greg’s versatility is unparalleled among those I have worked with over 20 years as a professional. His years of experience and vast amount of knowledge instantly make a staff better and elevate the credibility of an organization. That’s why Greg would be in my “starting five” — he can handle a wide variety of jobs with equal ability, so I would be confident putting him in any position.

In addition, Greg is one of the most well-liked and respected professionals with whom I’ve ever worked. His highly developed interview skills make him an excellent listener, and his ability to distill competing viewpoints and offer thoughtful opinions gain him instant respect and make him extremely valuable in handling conflict resolution. His years of working in pressure-packed deadline situations have made his judgment and decision-making skills razor sharp.

And Greg’s unique ability to lighten the mood in pressure situations without losing focus or distracting others is essential to creating a positive work environment and improving (and maintaining) morale. I have yet to work with another person who does this as well as Greg. He not only makes a staff better, but he makes it happier, too. And a happy staff is a productive staff.

Greg would absolutely be an outstanding addition to any organization, whether in or out of the media business. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
