Everyone on jobs is always like, “I’m bored. I wish I had more work to do to keep me busy.” Are they crazy?
I don’t know about you, but I want to get paid the most amount of money for doing the least amount of work. I’d like to be a relief pitcher (specifically a “closer”) for a losing Major League Baseball team. That way, I would only have to pitch one inning every four or five days. And as a closer, it is guaranteed that I will only come in the game when I am winning so I can get the save. Hell, I could find things to do while I am not working. i could read the newspaper or do some creative writing or work on my music playlist. I could easily entertain myself. Boredom? Bring it on!
I think most people’s motiviation for more work is to improve their skills and reach for a promotion. The person doing just enough to get by (even in sports the closers put in the same practice time as everyone else) don’t usually advance.
If you are comfortable with your position and level of income then don’t ask for more work. As long as you are doing the work required to keep your job.
